Tram line renewal on Mahlsdorfer Straße
The poor structural condition of the track system and an unsecured crossing point for pedestrians over the tracks require the renewal of the approx. 300 m section of the tram line in Mahlsdorfer Straße between Kaulsdorfer Straße and Hirtestraße. The track spacing varies in the existing section due to the distortions to the crossing and is only around 2.60 metres in places. The standard clearance gauge for the use of modern low-floor trams is therefore not maintained throughout. The new tracks are to be constructed as grass tracks with a track spacing of 3.00 metres. The construction measure offers the possibility of enhancing the streetscape by greening the centre strip in the form of a grass track.
